Nine-year-old Simone was referred for art therapy due to negative behaviours at school, including fighting and verbal abuse. She could not regulate her feelings of anger and defiance and found it difficult to articulate her emotions or actions well. Through art-making and play, our London family project worked with Simone to explore her home life and helped her to understand and be proud of her identity in a mixed-heritage family and as a new big sister. She now finds enjoyment in rule-setting and others company, and can better regulate her feelings and actions when at school.
