To me, Isaiah, one of the greatest Old Testament prophets and a saint in the Eastern Church, is a pillar of faith. Our Lord Himself quoted his scriptures many times to clarify things for his own followers. He was martyred because of the outspoken way he preached. I revere Isaiah because he was a writer who spoke truth: one to whom God entrusted some of the most illuminating and visionary prophecies of Christ’s coming. He inspires me by the gifts God gave him to write prophetic poetry and, above all, to understand the Lord, the suffering servant.
