The Catholic Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham is open every day of the year and is visited by thousands of pilgrims of all ages.  The Shrine provides a peaceful atmosphere to ensure that pilgrimage is a time of spiritual refreshment and all those who visit return to their daily lives at home and at work with their faith strengthened in the knowledge that their petitions will be remembered at the Shrine.

Pilgrims come to the Shrine for a variety of reasons: to celebrate and give thanks, and also in times of sadness, to seek renewed strength from the prayers of Our Lady. Many stay at the accommodation in the village of Walsingham while others come for the day. The daily liturgy includes the pilgrim Mass, the Rosary, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and other pilgrim services such as the Sacrament of the Sick.

The Catholic National Shrine of Walsingham is a self-funded charity and relies on the generosity of the faithful to cover its costs.  Legacies provide an essential source of income.  Legatees and benefactors are remembered in prayers at the Shrine.

A fully operational Shrine serving the faithful as a place of pilgrimage requires the upkeep of numerous buildings, including the Slipper Chapel, the Chapel of Our Lady of Reconciliation, Tea Room, Shop, Marian Museum and two Pilgrim Accommodation Centres.
